The Emergence of Artificial Intelligence

The emergence of Artificial General Intelligence is somewhat in the farther future; nevertheless, AI is happening now and will unpack potentials and risks that are primary breakthroughs and threats at the same time, as we started to see. The roadmap of human development is packed with revolutionary breakthroughs that led to a radical reconstruction of giving birth to alternatives for our way of life. The demonstration of Aristotelian logical flow was premier in all the groundbreaking transformations. A new technology, tool, or process in the right hands with the right goals can bring amazing changes to the quality of life. However, if put into the wrong hands or used with the wrong intentions, then the outcomes will be the complete opposite direction. AI, as the newest technology to bring big change to society, comes with the same possibility of both positive and negative outcomes.

All the previous adversaries and promises were led by humans, and the human mind was the place for computing the data to generate intelligence and expand knowledge despite its goals or consequences. Destructive or constructive, they all happen as the result of human curiosity and the flow of logic in the human mind. So far, we have followed the same laws of natural sciences and thinking. However, this time only, and might be forever, this computation brought on through AI takes place in a platform outside the human limbic system. Machine learning with the intent of generating intelligence, although at its commencement, demonstrated that it can compute complex mathematical problems computational abilities and utilize them to simulate language poses a great threat in that there is the possibility that its future can lie outside of the control of humans.

The crucial role of leadership on the one hand and AI on the other are both elevating. Moreover, they contemplate that the future will entail more comprehensive interactions of leadership processes based on the influential role of AI in the realm of business and life in general. Leadership is going to remain crucial and will be relevant to humans as we look into the future. The fundamental influence of AI, however, is going to paraphrase some aspects of leadership. The key is in the notion that leadership involves the relationship between humans, and this is not always the central focus of AI-generated change.

The areas of leadership are going to rehearse a circular pattern instead of a pyramid of power when the leader is at the top. This circular or round table style of leadership between leader and followers is due to the impact of AI and its role in expanding democratic and participative leadership perspectives. The emphasis on context and its role in the leadership process relates to the last decades of research conducted on leadership and how the context of leadership is a significant characteristic in leader-follower dynamics. The leadership theories that place significance at the dichotomous leader-follower relationship will survive the validation by AI influence on leadership. Despite the democratic style, as mentioned earlier, ethical leadership is another accord of the new era. The meditations on leadership brought about the relationship between transformational and transactional leadership to AI-era leadership. This research suggests that leaders who utilize AI better become life-long learners and continue their reinforced educations. The adverse outcomes of leaders with limited skills and experience are highly riskier in the AI era. Unskilled leaders with a limited understanding of ethics might unintentionally or deliberately create a dangerous atmosphere through their actions and use of AI. The value of reinforced learning not only increases self-awareness which is a significant denominator for organic and safe behaviors but also works as a barrier in front of the adversative impacts of AI.
